By using Opus, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Opus, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Opus.

2. Description of Service

Opus is a writing and presentation tool designed for scholarly work. Opus allows you to:

  • Create and edit manuscripts and presentations
  • Collaborate with others in real-time
  • Store documents locally or in connected cloud storage
  • Export documents in various formats

3. User Accounts

To use Opus, you must sign in with a Google account. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us of any unauthorized use

4. Your Content

You retain all rights to the content you create in Opus. By using Opus, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the rights of others
  • Contain malicious code or harmful content

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Opus for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service
  • Use Opus to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code

6. Cloud Storage Integration

Opus may integrate with third-party cloud storage providers (Google Drive, Dropbox, Box, Nextcloud). Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability or security of third-party services.

7. Availability and Support

We strive to keep Opus available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time.

8. Self-Hosted Instances

Opus is open-source software that can be self-hosted. If you host your own instance:

  • You are responsible for its operation and security
  • You must comply with the open-source license
  • We provide no warranty or support for self-hosted instances

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

Opus is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that Opus will meet your requirements or be error-free.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Opus.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of Opus after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to Opus at any time for violation of these Terms. You may stop using Opus at any time.
